Dynamic and personable, Tyler Florence incorporates both tradition and innovation in his culinary creations, while redefining the concept of celebrity chef.  The charismatic star of numerous Food Network shows, frequent contributor to national television, radio and Internet programs and acclaimed author introduced “Eat This Book: Cooking with Global Fresh Flavors”, from Random House in April, 2004.  A follow-up to his wildly successful “Tyler Florence’s Real Kitchen”, this book offers up a dazzling new collection of 125 full-flavored, globe-trotting recipes for dining every night of the week.  With his affable, humorous and practical approach to the culinary arts, as well as the personal appeal that led him to be named the “Sexiest Chef Alive” by People Magazine, Florence is one of the most popular young chefs in the world.  He has been recognized as a leading chef by publications such as Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, GQ, Wall Street Journal, USA Weekend, and InStyle.

Having made his television debut in 1996 with guest appearances on The Food Network, Florence has become a key ingredient for the channel.  Tyler is celebrating his 10th year on The Food Network, with three shows that include How to Boil Water, a cooking show for novices, Food 911, his hugely popular “recipe rescue” show, as well as new episodes of his primetime show, Tyler’s Ultimate.  Florence has also hosted numerous other Food Network shows, including Planet Food, All American Festivals and My Country, My Kitchen.  A regular guest on the TODAY Show, Florence has also appeared on CNN, E!, The View, The Tonight Show, Wayne Brady, Access Hollywood, Extra, Good Morning America and more.

A graduate with honors from the College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University in South Carolina, Florence was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2004 as well as a scholarship program in his name.  He honed his culinary skills in New York City under the tutelage of some of the city's premier chefs, including Charlie Palmer at Aureole, Marta Pulini at Mad 61 and Rick Laakonen at River Cafe.  Armed with this knowledge, Florence truly established his reputation in the New York food scene at Cafeteria.  He now sits on the board of the Culinary Council for Macy’s Department Stores, and has a new tabletop line coming out this fall with Mikasa.

Tyler recently completed his third cookbook “Tyler’s Ultimate” that was released on September 26, 2006, and is currently taping brand new episodes of his hit show “Tyler’s Ultimate”, while working on a new restaurant of his own, Bar Florence. Tyler lives in Mill Valley, California.
